Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) is a classic aromatic botanical known for its intensely bitter character and distinctive herbal aroma. It is perhaps best known as one of the traditional botanicals associated with absinthe, but it has also been used for generations in botanical spirits, bitters, liqueurs, and other herbal preparations.
Our dried wormwood has a bold, earthy fragrance with pronounced bitterness and complex green, herbaceous notes. Because wormwood is exceptionally potent, a relatively small amount can contribute significant character to a botanical blend.
Wormwood pairs especially well with botanicals such as anise seed, fennel seed, star anise, hyssop, lemon balm, angelica root, coriander, and citrus peel, making it a versatile ingredient for creating custom botanical recipes.
Common Uses:
- Absinthe-style botanical blends
- Bitters and herbal liqueurs
- Botanical spirit recipes
- Aromatic herbal preparations
- Craft and traditional botanical applications
Flavor & Aroma: Intensely bitter, earthy, herbal, aromatic, and slightly woody.
