A Simple Cold Mash for Beginners

You don’t need to be an experienced mash maker to use this kit. PhilBilly’s Simple Sour Mash was designed around a straightforward cold mash method that makes it a great starting point for beginners.

There is no complicated grain bill with six or seven different ingredients. We keep it simple.

The foundation is Yellow Dent Corn, with Silver King White Corn added to give the recipe its own distinctive corn character. A small amount of Malted Barley rounds out the grain bill.

It’s simple enough for your first batch while still giving you a grain recipe you’ll want to use again.
